Two new COVID cases reported, another death

The North Bay Parry Sound today reported its second death of the pandemic, and two new active cases.

The death was a 75-year-old man living at the Lancelot Apartments. He had a preliminary positive result for a COVID-19 Variant of Concern.

It is the second death within our Health Unit district associated with COVID-19. Death refers to a lab-confirmed case that dies during the COVID-19 investigation. It does not account for unreported deaths that occur after the investigation is closed.

An update this afternoon by the Health Unit shows two new cases and 26 active cases in our district.

Of the active cases, 21 are in Nipissing, and five are in the Parry Sound.

It brings to 238 the total number of cases since the pandemic began.

The two latest cases are both outbreak-associated and are isolating.

The update also says there are 22 preliminary positive variants of concern (VOC) Cases. Two are in Parry Sound with 20 in Nipissing. Only one has been identified so far, that being the South African Variant.

The Temiskaming Health Unit reports no active cases. There have been a total of 92 reported in that district.  

Sudbury Health Unit reports 37 active cases with a grand total of 575.

The Simcoe-Muskoka Health Unit reports 650 active cases and a total of 6,028 cases. It reports it has 160 cases with confirmed UK variant.
