Two new cases today, 21 active

Almost 30,000 doses have been administered as of April 14, which represents 26.85 per cent of adults

The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit reports two new cases today, bringing to 326 the total since the pandemic began.

There are 21 active cases.

The Health Unit reported today that it reached a new milestone in the fight against COVID-19 with over 25 per cent of people 18 years and older receiving at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Almost 30,000 doses have been administered as of April 14, which represents 26.85 per cent of adults.

The Temiskaming Health Unit reports five active cases. It also says a potential COVID-19 exposure advisory has been issued for a dump near Temiskaming Shores. The low-risk exposure notice is for people who visited the Coleman Township Municipal Dump at 506126 Ferguson Rd. on Tuesday, April 6 and Saturday, April 10.

The Sudbury Health Unit reports 15 new cases today and another death. There are 215 active cases.

The Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit reports 132 new cases and 875 active cases.

In northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:

  • North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 323 cases, rate of 248.9 per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 324 cases. There are 21 known active cases. There have been 33 confirmed cases of the United Kingdom (B.1.1.7) variant, and 27 confirmed cases of the South African (B.1.351) variant of concern. There are 13 tests where variants have been detected but the strain is not known yet. 
  • Timiskaming Health Unit: 135 cases, rate of 413 per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 136 cases. There are five known active cases. There have been 22 confirmed cases of the UK (B.1.1.7) variant and one case of the South African (B.1.351) variant of concern. 
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 1,758 cases, rate of 883.3 per 100,000 people. There are 244 known active cases. There have been 83 confirmed UK (B.1.1.7) variants of concern. There are 516 tests where variants have been detected but the strain is not known yet. 
  • Algoma Public Health: 284 cases, rate of 248.2 per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 285 cases. There are 48 known active cases, including one person who is temporarily in the region but the case is not part of the local numbers. There have been five confirmed cases of the UK (B.1.1.7) variant of concern. Three tests have screened positive for a variant of concern but the strain is not known yet. 
  • Porcupine Health Unit: 423 cases, rate of 506.9 per 100,000 people. There are 39 known active cases. There have been five confirmed cases of the UK (B.1.1.7) strain and two confirmed cases of the South African (B.1.351) variant of concern. There are three tests where a variant has been detected but the strain is not known yet. 
  • Northwestern Health Unit: 779 cases, rate of 888.5 per 100,000 people. There are 52 known active cases. There have been 11 confirmed cases of the UK (B.1.1.7) variant. There are 15 tests where variants have been detected but the strain is not known yet. 
  • Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 2,989 cases, rate of 1993.2 per 100,000 people.  The health unit has reported 2,992 cases. There are 61 known active cases. There are nine tests where a variant has been detected but the strain is not known yet.

Public Health Ontario has reported a record 4,736 new cases of COVID-19 today (April 15).

Today's report includes 3,174 recoveries and 29 new deaths.  

The deaths reported today include one person between 20 and 39 years old, one person between 40 and 59 years old, 12 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 15 people over the age of 79 years old.

The province has reported 296 new hospitalizations since yesterday, and 56 new admissions of COVID-19 patients to intensive care units.

The April 15 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 38,341 active cases, which is up from 36,608 yesterday. 
  • 1,932 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, up from 1,877 reported yesterday. 
  • There are 659 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (up from 642 yesterday) and 442 COVID patients on ventilators (even with 442 reported yesterday)
  • The province reported 65,559 tests were processed yesterday resulting in an eight per cent positivity rate. 
  • Another 39,682 tests are still under investigation and/or being processed. To date, 13.3 million tests have been completed.
  • Of the 4,736 new cases reported today, 1,254 are from Toronto, 983 cases are from Peel, 526 are from York Region, and 118 are from Simcoe-Muskoka
  • The new cases reported today include 894 individuals aged 19 and under, 1,719 people between 20 and 39 years old, 1,408 people between 40 and 59 years old, 625 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 94 people aged 80 and over.

Vaccines

  • There were 105,430 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered on April 14, which is down from 112,817 doses on April 13.
  • As of 6 p.m. on April 14, the province reported 3,528,404 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered.
  • In total, 337,206 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 403,571 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 357,591 recoveries and 7,639 deaths, of which 3,908 were individuals living in long-term care facilities.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 2,715 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

The weekly incidence rate in Ontario is 180.1 cases per 100,000 people, which is an increase of 31.7 per cent from last week (March 30 to April 5).
