Two new cases of COVID in the district, 13 now active

This district remains in a green zone, while Sudbury is yellow and Muskoka orange.

On November 24, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit declared a COVID-19 community outbreak at Nipissing University which involved 14 people.

As of November 27, the outbreak now includes 16 people.

"The growth in the number of individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 is expected, as high-risk contacts are being tested. Close contact tracing is complete for every individual who tested positive. Individuals who have tested positive are self-isolating," says a Health Unit news release.

Meanwhile, as of this afternoon, the district includes 13 active cases.

The two new cases bring to 76 the number since the pandemic started, with 62 resolved and one death.

Eleven of the active cases are in Nipissing with two in Parry Sound.

Today's cases involve people in the 20-39 and 40-59 age range.

One was through community spread and the other close contact.

This district remains in a green zone, while Sudbury is yellow and Muskoka orange.
