Widdifield and West Ferris Secondary School students hit the pavement this week in advance of Thanksgiving Day canvassing the West Ferris area to collect non-perishable items for the North Bay Food Bank.

The Tojan army, made up of a 150 students staff and parent volunteers, hit the streets with force and broke a record collecting over 9000 pounds of food. their old record of 8676 pounds in 2005.

"We were so happy with the overwhelming response from the West Ferris community and our students, staff and parents. We are proud of our Trojans," says Megan Yemm, Student Council co-president.

Meanwhile the Wildcats prowled their area of the city collecting 3000 pounds and student organizer Courtney Conlon says they all learned what it means to be truly thankful for all they have.
