Transport driver blows 4x legal limit

As a result of the breath test, the driver was found to be four times over the legal limit of alcohol.

Yesterday at 12:40 p.m., members of the East Algoma OPP received a traffic complaint of a tractor trailer travelling westbound on Highway 17 near the Town of Iron Bridge.

Ten minutes later police saw the westbound tractor trailer and stopped it on Highway 17.  The officer determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages and arrested him. 

The driver was taken to Blind River detachment where a breath sample was taken from a qualified breath technician. 

As a result of the breath test, the driver was found to be four times over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood and immediately taken to a local hospital as a precaution, and later released into police custody.

Krzysztof Miedzwiedzki, 47 years of age, from Mississauga, was charged with:

  • Driving while Ability Impaired-Motor Vehicle, and
  • Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood.

Miedzwiedzka is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 9.
