Traffic stop nets marijuana

On Friday afternoon around 2:30, a member of the Mattawa OPP was patrolling on Highway 17 in Papineau-Cameron Township, when he stopped a vehicle travelling west. As a result of the traffic stop the officer seized 5.25 pounds (2.38 kilograms.

On Friday afternoon around 2:30, a member of the Mattawa OPP was patrolling on Highway 17 in Papineau-Cameron Township, when he stopped a vehicle travelling west.

As a result of the traffic stop the officer seized 5.25 pounds (2.38 kilograms.) of suspected marihuana and seized the motor vehicle as offence related property.

OPP arrested Michael Warriner, 30, of Timmins, and charged him with “Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-under 3 kilograms” and “Trafficking in a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana-under 3 kilograms”.

Warriner was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Mattawa, on Thursday, November 12.
