Traffic complaint leads cops to jackpot

Acting on a traffic complaint, West Parry Sound OPP stopped a car on Highway 400 in Parry Sound January 1, at 3 a.m. They found more than expected.

Acting on a traffic complaint, West Parry Sound OPP stopped a car on Highway 400 in Parry Sound  January 1, at 3 a.m.

They found more than expected.

Investigation revealed that both the driver and passenger were unlicenced and so unable to drive the vehicle.

When an inventory check was done before towing the vehicle, police discovered a portable credit card reader, equipment and fraudulent credit cards.

The driver, Vasigaran Kailasapillai, 22 years of age from Montreal was arrested and charged with:

• Possess instrument for use in forging credit cards

• Possess stolen credit card data

• Possession of a forged credit card

• Drive motor vehicle – no licence

• Fail to have insurance card

The passenger, Taamge Vetharanyam, 22 years of age from Montreal was arrested and charged with:

• Fail to comply with Probation Order

• Possess instrument for use in forging credit cards

• Possess stolen credit card data

• Possession of a forged credit card
