Traffic check leads to drug charges

On July 1, 2011 shortly after 6 pm, a North Bay OPP officer stopped to what initially appeared to be a motor vehicle collision at the entrance of the OPP Detachment located on Gormanville Road in the city of North Bay. After speaking with both drivers and determining a collision had not taken place, the officer located what appeared to be marihuana in one of the vehicle. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of over 850 g of suspected Marihuana, 139 g of suspected Hash, a quantity of prescription pills for an estimated street value of $18,000 as well as a large sum of money.

Charged is Kyle David PURKHART, 23, of Stoney Creek with Possession for the Purpose Schedule II under 3 kg as per Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) s.5 (2). He is scheduled to appear for court in North Bay on August 9, 2011.
