In the Student Residences category, Nipissing was ranked first overall, garnering the only A out of any university in any category. Nipissing was first in the small university category in nine out of the 15 categories listed in the print edition of the University Report Card. Nipissing is the only school in its category to receive an A+ for Student-Faculty Interaction as well as an A for Quality of Teaching.
The university earned an A+ in several important categories, including Student-Faculty Interaction, Faculty Members' Knowledge of Subjects, Class Size, Availability of Faculty Outside Classroom Hours, and Sense of
Personal Safety/Security. Nipissing also earned As in many key categories, such as University Atmosphere, Student Residences, Quality of Education, Attractiveness of Campus, Quality of Teaching and Satisfaction with University Experience.
The University Report Card, published this year as a glossy 64-page insert in the Globe and Mail as well as on line, surveyed 32,700 current undergraduate full- or part-time students from across Canada. Universities are grouped into four sizes: large, with enrolment over 22,000; medium-large, with enrolment between 12,000 and 22,000; small, with enrolment between 4,000 and 12,000; and very small, with enrolment under 4,000. Nipissing University, with a full- and part-time enrolment of about 5,331 students when the survey was conducted, is in the small university category.
