Toilet paper collection will aid local food banks

'Our goal this year is 20,000 rolls'

TP North Bay will be collecting toilet paper again this spring with a goal of 20,000 rolls to be distributed to area food banks.

Those include the North Bay Food Bank, Salvation Army, St. Peters Church, Pro-Cathedral, St. Johns Church, St. Brice’s, Trinity United Church, St. Andrews United Church, Emmanuel Church, Lakeshore Missionary Church, Nipissing University Food Bank, Canadore College Food, Children's Aid Society and Big Brothers & Big Sisters.

The Toilet Paper Campaign will run until May 27 with proceeds going to 16 Local North Bay food banks.

"Then on Monday, May 29th we will divide the TP out to the 16 food banks.

In 2021 TP North Bay collected 21,047 rolls of toilet paper during the pandemic, and added another 20,000 rolls last year.

In nine years the group has collected a grand total of 171,033 rolls estimates Team Leader Ellen Faulkner.

Collections will take place at these locations for four Saturdays 10 to 2:

  • May 06 Giant Tiger Algonquin
  • May 13 Parker's Independent Grocery
  • May 20 Food Basics
  • May 27 Giant Tiger Lakeshore & Metro

There will also be Blue Boxes at:

  • Davedi Club
  • Allison the Bookman
  • City Hall's main floor
  • Flight Deck Cafe up at the airport

The group is not part of any one food bank, and although the goal this year is 20,000, Faulkner would love to see 29,000 rolls to hit 200,000 rolls in 10 years.
