Someone called 911 early yesterday reporting loud banging noises in a Seymour Street area business.

Police arrived and found a man trying to break into and steal property from the business, causing approximately $2,500 damage.

The thief was arrested and found to be in possession of approximately $10 worth of property and was also in possession of break-in tools.

Police charged Scott Lalonde, 31, of North Bay with:

  • One count of Mischief
  • One count of Theft under $5,000 and
  • One count of Possession of break-in instruments.

LaLonde will appear in the North Bay Courthouse on the 24th of July.

North Bay Police are taking the opportunity to remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment.

"Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings," says Constable John Schultz.
