An opening reception for Tim Salidas’ People & Places was held at the Capitol Centre Tuesday evening.

Family, friends and guests gathered for a preview of the photo documentary of people and events in the North bay area as captured by the expert eye of Tim Salidas, a retiree whose full-time hobby is photography.

The display is open to the public until August 31 in the Capitol Centre’s foyer. Tim’s collection features public figures from elected officials to our police and fire personnel, arm wrestlers, the visit of the Prime Minister, charity events and the Warriors of Hope Dragon Boat races.

Tim Salidas was born in North Bay and until his retirement was an imaginative entrepreneur who imported everything from Mexican jumping beans to USA Today. He had several Tidas magazine stores in North Bay, Windsor and Warren Michigan before retiring due to illness in 1991. Since then Tim has gone through thousands of rolls of film in his hobby, that while providing enjoyment for Tim, has also been used to raise money for many charities.
