Three arrested in Sturgeon drug bust

The street value of the drugs is approximately $68,180

Three Sturgeon Falls residents are facing charges after an OPP drug bust yesterday (June 23).

Just before midnight, the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, Nipissing West Detachment and the North East Region Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a house on Railway Street in Sturgeon Falls.

Officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be: Fentanyl and cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and over $2,000 in cash.

The street value of the drugs is approximately $68,180.

Three people were arrested and charged.

Renée Falardeau, 34, and Nathanal Hutchinson, 29, both from Sturgeon Falls, are charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000

Both were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on September 3, in West Nipissing.

Brian Fisher-Young, 31, from Sturgeon Falls, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Failure to comply with release order 

He remains in custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice - Bail Court (video conferencing) on July 2, in North Bay.
