It's a Saturday morning, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and you are on your way to the mall to buy that expensive toy that your child has been bugging you about for a long time. While you are driving, you notice little piles of tools, books, clothing, furniture, appliances and toys. You stop your car and look through some of the goods, and low and behold you see it, the expensive toy you were going to spend $50. on. How much will it cost you here? Nothing, not a cent! Why? Because, this is GOODS EXCHANGE DAY!

Goods Exchange Day is an bi-annual event, put on by the City of North Bay. It's a day when residents can place usable goods they no longer want on the curb so that other people may take and use them.

The purpose of Goods Exchange Day is to divert usable items that a home owner no longer wants and would otherwise throw out in the garbage.

This saves on expensive landfill space, and lets residents participate in waste REUSE, the second R in the 3R's strategy; Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

How can you participate in Goods Exchange Day! It's easy. Gather all the usable goods that you no longer have use for (furniture, clothing, books, tools, sporting goods, toys, doors, windows, sinks, etc.) and at 8:00 am on Saturday, April 24th, 2010 place these items on the curb at the end of your driveway. All uncollected items must removed from the curb by 6:00 pm.

There will be NO City pick-up of leftover items.

People collecting Goods Exchange Day items are asked to please drive safely and watch for children.
