A sign that North Bay needs more effort in the employment field was evident this afternoon as well over 500 job seekers took in a job fair at the Davedi Club.

Many came looking for work in their field, or with hopes of a fresh opportunity, after experiencing un-employment in the region.

"The job fair was really good. They had a lot for graduates of university and stuff. I only wish there were a few more employers and more for commercial," said Chris Lavoie, a local job seeker, who remains hopeful and leaves with some good promises and potential future job opportunities.

The fair opened at 10 a.m. and there were 45 employers in attendance to showcase their jobs and businesses, as well as to give advice on proper techniques to help land employment.

This is the 3rd Annual North Bay job fair but the first at the Davedi Club. It was put on by the 'The Employee Services Table' which is a collaboration of all employment support agencies in North Bay.

“This will be a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to gain employment in the community,” Judy Bechard, Co-Chair of the Employment Services Table told BayToday.

“This event will allow job seekers to meet employers first-hand to see what vacancies are out there and what type of skills are required to fill them.”
