Recent complaints to the North Bay Police Service have come in regarding pedestrian and traffic safety near M. T. DAVIDSON Public School on Lansdowne St. in Callander.
Numerous concerns have been raised about children being able to cross the street safely at this location, as well as vehicle safety.

Some of them are:

Vehicles parked in front of the school that would make U turns to go back over the crest of the hill.

Vehicles that cross over and drive in the opposing lane to be able to pull into the area in front of the school.

Vehicles parked on the side of the road to drop of children and leaving their doors wide open for an extended period of time within traffic.

An excess of speed within this school zone. This is a 40KM zone and also within a Community Safety Zone.

Although not an offence, but vehicles parked on the North side of the road and having children walk across the road, which is down from the crest of the hill. Drivers approaching from the other side would not be able to see pedestrian traffic until upon them.

These cautions are reminders to motorists and pedestrians that care should always be exercised on roads and particularly in school zones.
