Just in time for Thanksgiving, the North Bay and District Hospital is giving the community a way to say thanks. Today the Hospital launched a unique program to coincide with the fourth annual Walk/Run happening Sunday October 18th at Lee Park.

"This year we wanted to give the community a chance to give thanks or pay tribute to special people in their lives," explains Nancy Jacko, NBDH Vice President and Event Marketing Committee Chair. "We have created flag pennants available for people to purchase and write a special message. They may want to thank a friend or loved one, a hospital staff member who cared for them during a stay, or pay tribute to someone special," Jacko continued. "The pennants will hang at the start/finish line during the event for all to see."

The pennants are available at the RBC locations on Main Street, Airport and Stockdale and in Callander; and TD Bank locations on Main Street, Cassells Street and in the North Bay Mall. Flags are five dollars each and will be on display in the place of purchase until race day.

Today also marked the official launch of the new look and website for the Walk/Run www.ourhospitalwalkrun.ca . "We are so pleased to be able to offer online registrations this year on our new, redesigned website," says Vicky Sutherland, Foundation Development Officer. "Also new this year is the use of timed chip technology to track race results."

In addition to a new name, the Walk/Run also has a creative new look. "This re-brand actually tells the story of this fourth annual Walk/Run for the Hospital. The event's new name tells it like it is, and at a glance we understand that this is a fun walk/run directed at families, happening in the fall," explains Bernard Penney from Penney & Company, who created the concept.

Representatives from the Hospital were joined by representatives from the City of North Bay, RBC Royal Bank and patient Jennifer Graveline to dedicate the first pennants.

There is still time to register for Our Hospital Walk Run. For more information go to www.ourhospitalwalkrun.ca or contact the Foundation at 495-8125 ext 205
