The Kiwanis Clubs of North Bay and Nipissing proudly announce the 42nd annual Kiwanis Festival of Music and Dance. The festival, which includes participation by approximately 800 area children, youth and adults, begins with an Official Launch on Tuesday, April 3, at 3 pm at École Secondaire Odysée.

Music and dance competitions begin on Tuesday April 10 and run until Monday, May 7, 2007. The festival finale will be held on Sunday, May 13 in the Bishop Carter Auditorium at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, beginning at 2 pm.

All music and dance events are open to the public. Public attendance is both desired and encouraged. The festival provides a great opportunity for all performers to demonstrate their ability and includes performances by some very accomplished musicians and dancers.

Daily admission cost is two dollars and an ‘all events’ pass can be purchased for only $15.00. Events are held at a number of venues in North Bay, including Trinity United and Calvin Presbyterian Churches, West Ferris and SJSH secondary schools, Casselholme and the North Bay Capitol Centre.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Explore the child in YOU, through Music and Dance.” It includes performances in a wide range of music disciplines, such as strings, elementary and high school bands, piano, voice, choirs, guitar, brass, woodwinds, recorder, fiddle & stepdancing. Dance competitions include ballet, jazz, and hip hop, to name but a few.

Questions regarding the upcoming festival can be directed to Brent Labrosse, Festival Chair at 474-7601, ext 5172 or Nicole McDowell Festival Coordinator at 472-1778 or [email protected].
