The Canadian Snowbirds Demonstration team touched down in North Bay late this afternoon in preparation for what will be their first show in Canada in 2015.

For the second year in a row North Bayites will have the opportunity to watch the Snowbirds fly across our skies as part of Armed Forces Day on Wednesday.

“Armed Forces Day is really important for the Canadian Forces Snowbirds,” stated Snowbirds Public Affairs officer Lieutenant Patricia Brunelle shortly after she arrived with the two-plane advanced Snowbirds team which touched down at Jack Garland airport around 3:30 p.m.

“We are really excited to be back in North Bay, it’s actually our first show in Canada for the 2015 season and we are even happier that it’s an Armed Forces Day and we get to do this for not only for the people of the Armed Forces but the community of North Bay as well.”

Brunelle is new to the team and has only been working with the Snowbirds as their Public Affairs officer for a month.

“It’s been pretty exciting so far, there can be some long days but just seeing the shows and talking to the crowds makes it really rewarding experience for everybody involved,” she said.

The advanced team made up of two aircraft arrived first with another six jets which arrived around 4:45 p.m.

The final 2 Snowbirds planes are expected to arrive later Tuesday night.

The Snowbirds demonstration itself, expected to be 45 minutes in length, will take place after the Armed Forces Day parade festivities.

The Algonquin Regiment and 33 Service Battalion will make their way from the City of North Bay Town Hall, at 11:00 a.m. to the North Bay Waterfront.

More than 150 military personnel will be led by North Bay Pipes and Drums.
