Temiscaming Woman dies following last week’s collision

North Bay OPP is continuing their investigation into a motor vehicle collision that occurred last week (December 20th, 2006) on Highway 63 Jocko Township, south of Eldee, Ontario. A Temiscaming Quebec women passed away on Christmas Eve as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

50 year old Lynn Trepanier of Temiscaming was the rear passenger in a yellow Ford Escape that was struck head-on at approximately 6:10 p.m. Wednesday December 20th, 2006. She was sent to Temiscaming General Hospital via ambulance with a head injury. At the time, her injury appeared to be non life-threatening. Trepanier was transferred to North Bay General Hospital where she succumbed to her injury.

24 year old Michel Goulet was eastbound in a black Chev Tracker and attempted to pass a tractor trailer. His vehicle collided head-on with the Ford that Trepanier was in, driven by 52 year old Rejean Letourneau of Temiscaming. Goulet was ejected from his vehicle after his vehicle sideswiped the tractor-trailer. Police determined that he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time. Goulet was transported to North Bay General Hospital and later transferred to Montreal General Hospital with serious yet non life-threatening injuries. Letourneau and his wife, 53 year old Lise Letourneau, were treated and released from hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Charges are pending in this matter.
