Suspicious person causes City Hall shutdown

A police search of the man after his arrest revealed that he was carrying a rock inside a sock.

Police closed City Hall temporarily yesterday afternoon after a man threatened a city employee.

They say a man entered the building and threatened an employee who believed she and others were at risk.

911 was called and police arrested the man on site after temporarily closing the building to the public.

A police search of the man after his arrest revealed that he was carrying a rock inside a sock.

Police arrested and charged:

Kyle Guy Mair, age 33, of Spanish, Ontario, with:

  • One count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm;
  • One count of carrying a concealed weapon;
  • One count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
  • Two counts of breach of probation.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing today.
