North Bayites hungry to get back into vacation mode will be able to once again travel to a sunny hot spot right from Jack Garland Airport.

Sunwing has not been promoting the direct flights a lot due to COVID-19 but, Chris Mayne of Mayne Travel says that Sunwing decided to make a return to North Bay in the summer.

According to Mayne, they will resume flights in early 2022 from the Gateway City.

"Sunwing is offering flights Thursday's through the winter season January, February, March. They will be flying directly to Cancun, Mexico," explained Mayne.

"We are all happy to see Sunwing maintaining the service in North Bay. It is a lot more convenient for everyone. It saves driving to Toronto and overnights in Toronto hotels, airport hotels."

Sunwing officials are eager to return to the north.

“We’re excited to be returning to Sudbury and North Bay this winter and offering northern Ontarians seamless vacation experiences under our wing,” Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing told Travelweek.

“Our seasonal flight services from Sudbury and North Bay have been consistently well-received over the years. With convenient flights from their regional airports, travellers will be able to spend less time getting to their destination and more time soaking up the sun in paradise."
