UPDATE: On Friday August 19, 2016 at approximately 11:30 a.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the South River Machar Fire Department, Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the North East Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) investigated a sudden death near the South River Dam off Mill Road.
Paul NEWMAN, 47 of Joly Township was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are continuing to investigate but foul play is not suspected.
A post mortem is scheduled to determine the cause of death.

Almaguin OPP have confirmed to BayToday, what police are calling a "sudden death", occured late this morning at the South River dam.
No name has been released as next of kin have yet to be notified.
Police say the death is still under investigation.
