Day one of the Annual Fall Food Drive to fill the shelves of the North Bay Food Bank got off to a roaring start Wednesday.

Our colleagues at EZ Rock in partnership with the Kinsmen Club set up a food donation drop off booth in the middle of Mike & Lori’s NO FRILLS on McKeown.

EZ Rock DJ Andy Wilson said the community has been very generous and the donations made Wednesday are well over the 2005 day one totals.

Area high school students, who called themselves ‘Hunger Busters’, pitched in hitting the city streets from 5pm to 9pm, going door to door collecting food donations. St. Joseph – Scollard Hall students Kaitlyn and Kelsey said they were having fun in spite of the rainy conditions.

Food Bank officials say the beginning of the holiday season is very taxing on the shelves and the drive is essential to help see them through from now till Christmas.

The community can show their support by making a non-perishable food donation in person Thursday from 6am to 6pm at Dean & Sue’s NO FRILLS on Lakeshore were the crew will be live on location, or if you can’t make it out, call U-NEED-A-Cab and have your donation picked up.
