Deputy Chief Shawn Devine says police statistics continue to show that the officers continue to be busy and call loads are increasing.

The Deputy Chief made those comments Wednesday at the monthly Police Board meeting at Police headquarters.

Year to date, police activity involving theft under was up from 210 in 2014 to 252 this year according to stats which took place up to the end of April 2015.

Calls of service up to the end of April of this year have increased to 7510 from 7467 up to the end of April 2014.

“Where most of the time I have said in the past that North Bay was trending toward the provincial and national trend with crime stops being on a downward trend, and I believe for this month in April we were slightly above meaning we laid more criminal charges this year than we did in last so that’s slightly different,” stated Devine about the crime stats.

“Again we continue to trend that we are more active this year than the years past.”

Overall Devine believes the majority of statistics indicate that they are solving more crimes which is a positive sign.
