There was a disturbing release from the OPP today about defenseless children being put in danger by reckless parents.

Sgt. Kerry Schmidt reported one incident on Highway 407 Burlington, where a motorist was caught speeding and was clocked at 167 km/h. When police stopped the vehicle they discovered four children inside. They were on their way to their school's Christmas recital concert.

In an even worse occurrence, police say they stopped another vehicle on Highway 410 in Toronto for driving over 180 km/hr. The 35-year-old male driver from Brampton registered over three times the legal limit of alcohol.

Inside were his two children aged 4 and 7.

The driver was charged with:

  • Impaired Driving
  • Over 80mg/alc in 100ml/blood
  • Stunt driving

Police also notified the Children's Aid Society.

The speed limit on both highways is 100.
