The Canadian Government announced that trade ministers from Canada and the United States have inked a softwood lumber deal.

Canada's international trade minister, David Emerson and U.S. trade representative Susan Schwab were to initial the agreement at 5 p.m. ET, where both the ministers are attending internal trade talks.

The agreement could spell relief for area softwood companies like Tembec and Columbia who have fallen on hard times caused by the dispute.
