Changes are coming to the way local social housing is managed.

In a news release, the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) says it has approved a realignment that desegregates DNSSAB’s services provided by the Nipissing District Housing Corporation (NDHC).

“This action allows for further alignment with the Nipissing District 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan, and further provides the improved integration and delivery of human services across the District,” says DNSSAB CAO Joseph Bradbury.

DNSSAB Chair, Mark King, says plans are that the move will help to deliver social services more efficiently going forward. “With a desire for more integrated services, this decision was a tough but timely and important one.”

"DNSSAB has made the decision to assign a governance structure contained within the current Housing Committee of the DNSSAB that will support broader social systems thinking and approaches that serve the needs of communities, individuals and families" says the release.

No significant impact is expected for operational staff.  Any staffing changes will happen as a result of retirement or attrition.

Efforts to contact DNSSAB were unsuccessful.
