Major winter storm will continue to affect the area tonight and Friday.

An intensifying Colorado low currently over Chicago will track across Southern Ontario tonight.

Snow at times heavy has already begun and will continue tonight. Significant snow amounts are forecast with this storm with near 25 centimetres expected by Friday morning in many locales as the storm centre tracks across Southern Ontario into New York State.

In addition strong and gusty easterly winds will cause very low to at times nil visibility in blowing snow tonight into Friday.

Motorists are advised to adjust travel plans accordingly as driving conditions will rapidly deteriorate and become hazardous as the snow falls.

Major winter storm affecting the area beginning today.

A low pressure system over Illinois is intensifying into a major winter storm as it approaches the Great Lakes today.

Snow at times heavy has already begun from Sault Ste Marie to Manitoulin Island this morning. The snow will spread over the remainder of Northeastern Ontario this afternoon and will become heavier this evening. Significant snow amounts are forecast with this storm with near 25 centimetres expected by Friday morning in many locales as the storm centre tracks across Southern Ontario into New York State.

In addition strong and gusty easterly winds will cause very low to at times nil visibility in blowing snow today into Friday.

Motorists are advised to adjust travel plans accordingly as driving conditions will rapidly deteriorate and become hazardous after the snow begins today.

Heavy snow expected beginning Thursday.

A low pressure system from Colorado is expected to intensify into a winter storm as it approaches the Great Lakes Thursday.

An expanding area of snow will move into Northeastern Ontario from Michigan beginning Thursday morning or afternoon. As the storm centre gets closer the snow will likely become heavy at times by Thursday evening.

Snowfall amounts of near 15 centimetres are forecast by Friday morning across the regions as the storm centre tracks across the Lower Great Lakes into New England.

In addition gusty easterly winds will reduce visibilities in occasional blowing snow.

Motorists are advised to adjust travel plans accordingly as driving conditions will rapidly deteriorate and become hazardous after the snow begins on Thursday.
