Smoking in car with a child present leads to a number of charges

North Bay & area – On January 29, 2010 at 5:55 p.m. on Highway 11/17 Bypass, officers with the North East Region SAVE stopped a motor vehicle as the passenger was observed smoking with a child present in the vehicle as well as not wearing her seatbelt.

As a result of this stop, the driver was also served a few Provincial Offence Notices including Drive motor vehicle – no licence s. 32(1) as per the Highway Traffic Act; Operate a motor vehicle without insurance s. 2(1) (a) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and had his vehicle towed as it wasn’t registered nor having plates authorized to circulate.
