Smith gets a jump on her opponents

Nipissing Liberal Candidate Monique Smith stepped off the campaign trail today to vote in the advanced polls and highlight to Nipissing voters the number of voting opportunities that are available in the 2007 provincial election.

Smith invited the media to join her at Northgate Square, where she cast her ballot and challenged voters to get out and vote early in this election.

Smith also took the opportunity to discuss the reports in several media outlets, following the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce debate, that indicated the general public are not engaged in this election.

“I couldn’t disagree more,” Smith said. “I have been knocking on a lot of doors throughout the riding and people have been very engaged. People know the issues and have very constructive questions and comments.”

“The difference between this election and the election four years ago is that the average Ontarian, including the people here in Nipissing, were rejecting the Conservative policies of cuts, neglect and division,” Smith added. “Quite simply, Ontarians wanted change and we are delivering the change that’s working.”
