Toronto - Slim-Fast® is recalling one Slim-Fast Meal Replacement bar product because it may contain peanuts that are being recalled by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). The peanut recall was ordered by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) on February 12, 2009, as a result of unsanitary conditions at the PCA Plainview, Texas, facility, which could have compromised the peanuts.

The Slimfast product recall consists of:

Product Name and Description: Slim-Fast Optima® Milk Chocolatey Peanut Meal Replacement Bar - sold in paperboard boxes, 6 bars per box, 60 g each, with various best-if-used by dates.

The UPC code is located on the bottom of the box: UPC: 68400 16215

Consumers who have any of the product are asked to discard it and call 1-877-270-7397, which is operational 24 hours a day, for information on the recall. In addition, a consumer services representative is available between the hours of 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM EST.

No other Slim-Fast products are affected by this recall. Slim-Fast is a Unilever product.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
