Continuing malfunctions have prompted Jack Pine Hill to close down its ski lift this afternoon.

A main drive in the quad chair is being replaced after being shipped into North Bay last night from the United States.

"The quad chair lift has been experiencing a number of malfunctions over the winter season that have proved to be a considerable inconvenience," said Jack Pine Hill spokeswoman Jennifer McCourt.

The latest problem which was causing the lift to stop frequently was identified as a malfunction in the drive, or computer system, which operates the machinery.

Jack Pine Hil staff are working "around the clock," McCourt said, to get the new drive installed, and the lift should be ready to go tonight for weekly adult lessons.

"We anticipate that the new drive will eliminate all of the past problems the lift has suffered," McCourt said.

With just over a month left in the season and the best weather conditions of the year, McCourt said Jack Pine Hill "looks forward to a busy wrap up to a frustrating winter."
