On October 24, Canadian Blood Services and Emergency Services in Northern Ontario will be launching the Sirens for Life campaign in North Bay. The Sirens for Life campaign is a partnership between Canadian Blood Services and the Northern Ontario Emergency Services to raise awareness and to encourage blood donation. On average, every minute of every day, someone in Canada requires blood. Emergency Services personnel often see first-hand the need for blood as a result of the emergencies they encounter in the course of their duties.

On October 24 and 25, North Bay’s Police, Fire Department, Emergency Services, Ontario Provincial Police and Aboriginal Police will encourage staff, friends and family to take part in the Sirens for Life Challenge and to donate blood. The local Emergency Response workers who recruit the highest number of donors will be this year’s Sirens for Life champions.

The true winners of this campaign will be the recipients of blood products. One blood donation can save up to three lives. That’s the beauty of giving blood.
