"The tragedy in South Asia has struck home for Best Western International, with employees for two of our resorts still among the missing, eight guests that lost their lives and the former CEO Best Western Sweden and his family among the missing. Many more Best Western employees lost friends and loved ones. Of course, all of South Asia is vastly affected by this event.

Through Best Western for a Better World, Best Western International is pledging a goal of $1 million in aid to South Asia, to be donated from Best Western International, our staff and our membership. Our goal is set based on Best Western International's more than 300,000 rooms worldwide and a donation of $3 per room. Best Western International started Jan. 5 with a $100,000 contribution towards our goal and individual hotels making contributions over the next two months with additional support to local events.

Best Western North Bay has committed to support the Best Western for a Better World pledge committing $3 per room plus hosting Children helping Children for the Canadian Red Cross Tsunami Relief.

Best Western Gold Crown Club members are also contributing by donating points collected during each stay to cash for the Best Western for a Better World – Tsunami Relief."
