The Art of Resistance exhibition aims to explore art as a means for activism and political resistance. The exhibition will run at the WKP Kennedy Gallery from March 4 – March 10, with a special reception on Saturday, March 6.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, February 4, 2010, by 4:00 p.m. Submissions can be dropped off in person or mailed to: The Near North Mobile Media Lab, ATTN: Art of Resistance, 150 Main Street E., North Bay, ON, P1B 1A8.

“We regard our community as one voice among many, calling for integrated and thoughtful challenges to sexism, racism, imperialism, classism, capitalism, war, environmental destruction, as well as hierarchy and oppression in all its forms,” said Dr. Wendy Peters, assistant professor of Gender Equality and Social Justice at Nipissing and one of the lead organizers for IWW. “We are looking for art that decolonizes, inspires change, cultivates dissent and creates pause for thought in all areas relating to gender equality and social justice.”

This is a juried exhibition open to all media and all artists. Recent work that addresses the theme is welcome. All submissions must include: an application form; an artist’s statement; and digital images of your work.
