Shots Fired On Lake Panache (Update)

On June 25th, 2006 at around 9:20 p.m., Espanola OPP officers received a report of gun shots having been fired in the vicinity of three men fishing in Stoney Bay on Lake Panache, Truman Township. The suspect, a lone male boater, was seen driving erratically prior to the shots being fired, was observed docking his boat on an island.
There were no injuries.

An OPP Emergency Response Team along with the OPP Tactics & Rescue Unit, three marine units and the OPP helicopter attended the scene to contain the area.

At 10:10 a.m. on June 26th, 2006, the suspect, Jorma Karlo RAJALAAKSO, age 69, of Ramseyview Court, Sudbury, ON, was arrested at his island on Lake Panache without incident. He is charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He will appear in Espanola court on September 5th, 2006.
