Everyone is invited to come and donate new household linens to the Sheets for Shelters Open House at the True Self Office, 302-128 McIntyre St. West North Bay, on Friday October 02, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

True Self - Debwewendizwin, offers women who are survivors of abuse, in abusive situations or are at risk of abuse a holistic approach to employment and training supports moving toward economic independence. It delivers a series of self-discovery and employment-specific workshops where women learn about themselves, the effects of abuse, stress management techniques, interview and job search strategies, implement return to work action plans, and connect with potential employers.

Women have an opportunity to discover their true strengths and abilities, to develop a plan of growth, and start on a road that will offer increased opportunities for career choices. Women are empowered with the tools and knowledge needed to reduce their vulnerability to poverty and abuse, ultimately breaking the cycle for them and their children.
During the Open House, visitors will be able to take a tour of the facility, meet program staff and socialize while enjoying treats, crafts and artwork created by some of the three hundred and forty-eight (348) women that have accessed services since True Self opened its doors in January 2007
