It’s a tough day but Sears North Bay Manager Jessica Lalonde says the spirits are still high at Sears as the well-known department store will be closing its doors for good officially at 9 p.m. on Monday night.

Monday marks the final day for shoppers to take advantage of sales up to 80 per cent off at Sears located at the Northgate Shopping Centre.

“It’s an emotional day for the team but we are all trying to smile and stay cheerful,” stated Lalonde who has worked for 17 years at the North Bay Sears location.

Sears Canada announced it was closing all its Canadian stores back in the middle of October, shortly after the retailer received approval by the courts to liquidate its stores.

Lalonde says the store continues to be busy as shoppers look for the great last minute discounts.

The longtime manager says she’s been focusing on this closure as her priority instead of looking for a new job.

“I’m just working on closing this chapter,” she said candidly.

“I would definitely like to thank North Bay for always supporting us and we are going to miss it.”
