The person called police over a suspected assault in progress at approximately 8:45 last night in a downtown apartment,

Police arrested and charged a 41-year old man with one count of assault.

Police say a man, following an argument with his female partner, physically assaulted her, causing her to scream.

The accused, whose name will not be released by police in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, was held in custody for a bail hearing.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the fight.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, North Bay Police responded to 208 calls for service, and arrested and charged 10 people with the following offences:

  • One person was charged with domestic assault;
  • One person was charged with assault police officer; mischief under $5,000 and breach of recognizance;
  • Three people were charged for breaches (recognizance, probation, undertaking);
  • One person was charged with mischief under $5,000 and breach of recognizance;
  • One person was charged with public intoxication;
  • One person was charged with mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats;
  • One person was charged with mischief under $5,000; and
  • One person was charged with impaired.
