Hero was diagnosed with Valley Fever, a fungus known as Coccidiodes immitis, and also had a heart condition.

"He defeated the odds and was able to control his heart condition very well," writes Carson. "After some diagnostics, he was in kidney failure. With the amazing care from Mandy and the team at Veterinary Wellness Center, he was able to get out of that… but sadly we discovered tumors on his spleen which is what his brother passed away from last year."

Carson says Hero was happy, loved and knew that he was the best boy.

"I am forever grateful for all the support we have had in the past 13 years. Everything from car rides to shows, fans at events and the support to follow a dream.

"There will never be another dog like Hero. He touched the lives of millions of people. He helped me through some of the darkest times in my life. I owe everything I have today to this dog. You will continue to be so incredibly loved."
