The gathering, which was to be held in Washington, D.C. but has now adopted a virtual format, will be hosted by Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S.House of Representatives.

This year’s theme is “Addressing the Climate Crisis with Economic and Environmental Justice for All” and will focus on “the need for strong international action to combat the disparities in health and financial security that have been highlighted by the climate crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to a news release from Speaker Pelosi’s press office.

Rota will address delegates on the topic of, “Working Together: Harnessing International Climate Cooperation to Address Racial and Economic Inequality.”

“I am pleased to be participating in the Virtual G7 Speakers’ Meeting and addressing this most timely topic,” said Rota. “As the world deals with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to face the ongoing challenges of climate change and of racial and economic inequality.”

Among the presenters is Dr. Madeleine Albright, former U.S. Secretary of State.

The Heads of Parliament will also hear messages from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, U2 lead singer and well-known activist Bono, and renowned primatologist and conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall.

Open portions of the meeting will be livestreamed on Pelosi’s Twitter and Facebook accounts starting at 7 a.m.
