Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming, today announced his support for Liberal leadership candidate Michael Ignatieff. Rota’s endorsement comes at a crucial time, just two weeks before delegate-selection meetings.

“Liberals across the country should feel confident about the future of our Party when they look at the quality of the candidates in the leadership race. I have given serious consideration to which of these fine candidates I will support. After meeting with all of them and consulting members of my riding, I have decided to support Michael Ignatieff. I believe he can bring our Party together,” said Anthony Rota.

“Michael has visited Northern Ontario and met with many local Liberals in my riding. I saw first hand how he will bring new people to the Party from all walks of life. Michael will offer Canadians progressive leadership and I am proud to support him to become the next Prime Minister of Canada,” added Anthony Rota.

Anthony Rota was first elected to Parliament in 2004 and is currently chair of the Ontario Liberal Caucus and serves as the Official Opposition critic for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor). He is also Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs.
