Rod Carley is one of Ontario's Top 20

Canadore Professor and Award-winning Director, Rod Carley, was named one of Ontario's Top 20 Lecturers by TVO this month.

The final 20 were chosen out of 160 professors that were nominated by their students for TVO's 2009 Big Ideas Best Lecturer Competition. In February, the list will be narrowed to 10 finalists who will deliver televised lectures where viewers can vote for their favourites. Ten Ontario schools are represented among the Top 20. Canadore is the only Ontario College represented, the remaining nine schools are universities.

The annual competition celebrates engaging and thought-provoking lecturers in Ontario. The winner, who will be announced in April, walks away with a $10,000 scholarship for their school and the title of Ontario's Best Lecturer.

"It is an honour to be recognized for what has been my life's vocation - the theatre. I'm pleased that it also reflects well on our Theatre Arts program at Canadore College," says Carley.

Rod Carley has been at Canadore College for four years. He is Coordinator of the Theatre Arts program and Artistic Director for the theatre company Rep 21. He has directed and produced over 85 productions nationally and internationally during his career for which he has won numerous awards.
