Robotics team sets sights on Atlanta competition

It was down to the nail bighting, tense moments of the final match of the Championship round at the Greater Toronto Regional, and a repeat of the finals at the Waterloo Regional last weekend. The faint noise of the compressors running could be heard from the stands as everyone at the Hershey’s Center waited for the results of match one of the finals between Team 1114, 2056, 176 and Team 1305, 854, and 1241. Team 1305 alliance, and Team 1114 alliance was almost the same as the Waterloo Regional, with the same out come from it, team 1114 alliance coming up victorious over Team 1305.

The Greater Toronto Regional is one of the largest of the 38 regional that is put on by FIRST, which hosts over 60 teams, from as far west as Alberta, and as far south as Connecticut and Ohio. All teams piled in to the Hershey’s Centre in Mississauga Thursday morning, starting off the competition with the every important practice rounds. Team 1305 saw a lot of action at this regional, as the team decided to “share” the time driving the base, driving the arm, and being human player for Thursday, until the Drive team, consisting of team members: Spencer Elliott, Wesley Groom, Will Allen, and George Wang, took over to secure the team in the top three going into alliance selecting Saturday Morning.

With the closing of the Greater Toronto Regional, NNSRI is now gearing up for the Championships in Atlanta Georgia April 9 to 16, 2007
