Officials at the refuge centre reached out to BayToday.ca and gave an update on the condition of the rare bird.

“It has a broken left eye socket and is having a hard time standing,” officials from the centre said in a statement.

“It did take some ringer's solution by syringe yesterday, as well as some small mice.”

But there is some good news about its wings.

“It has no broken bones, as checked by x-rays at Walden Animal Hospital.  It has a long way to go, but we are keeping a close eye on it.”

The Snowy Owl is one of a pair that has been sighted the past few months in the downtown area of the city.
