Officials at the Canadian Cancer Society say that North Bay's event raised approximately $150,000 through Relay For Life North Bay which took place at CFB North Bay's field on Friday night and into Saturday morning.
Rain caused a nuisance for some participants as North Bay & District Canadian Cancer Society Manager Gil Pharand noted that the event totalled 560 participants along with about 150 volunteers.
Despite that bad weather, the event was considered a success.
“Everyone's having a good time,” said Pharand to BayToday.ca's Tommy Wong on the weekend.
“They like that we're keeping things simple. But, it really is about people having fun, because cancers not a fun disease, but it doesn't mean fighting it can't be fun.”
