Recycle your old bike

You can donate your children’s bikes in good repair to Discovery Routes and get a $25 tax receipt.

Got a kids bike taking up space in your garage that never gets used?

Is your child ready to move up a bike size this spring, leaving behind a smaller bike?

You can donate your children’s bikes in good repair to Discovery Routes and get a $25 tax receipt.

Based on last year’s success, Discovery Routes has teamed up with the YMCA of North Bay as well as the North Bay-Parry Sound District Health Unit to accept children’s bicycles in good repair at the YMCA (186 Chippewa Street West) up until April 22nd.

Discovery Routes works closely with a wide variety of community partners to ensure that each donated bicycle is given to a deserving recipient.

All bikes will be restored by volunteers to a safe and operable condition prior to re-homing.

These bikes will be refurbished by volunteers on April 22nd and used for spring bicycle programming, including a bike rodeo at YMCA Healthy Kids Day on Sunday, May 1st, prior to being donated.

In 2015, Discovery Routes undertook the ReCycle Bikes initiative and gave over 200 children the opportunity to participate in local bike rodeos and bike safety training.
