The weather may have been miserable but that didn't stop a neighbourhood from carrying on a 10-year-old tradition.

Under a tent on the corner of Murray and Copeland, the neigbhourhood came together with baked goods and of course Lemonade to raise money for Cancer research.

Kiersten Vaananen, Cambrian College student came home to continue the fundraising tradition.  Since 2004, she has been there every year alongside her cousin Madison Waller.

"I don't remember how it started by I know my grandpa died of cancer, I never actually got to meet him so we just kind of started this to raise funds in a fun way, selling cookies and lemonade for a donation and it just ended up this was the 10th year," said Vaananen.

"So this year we are passing it on to the two boys across the street, because my cousin and I are now in college and we are leaving the nest kind of thing so we have to pass the torch down."

Freddy and Will Deacon-Simpson are the two 9-year-old boys who are going to carry on the tradition.

Vaananen says the cold, wet weather didn't dampen their spirits or their neighbourhood passion in working together for a worthy cause.

"It's always been a neighbourhood thing, you come out it's always a good time, it's raining today but it doesn't really matter it's still going, rain or shine."

She says the fundraiser coincides with the Terry Fox run.

"We just want everyone to realize the Terry Fox tradition, not really the money side but it's kind of an awareness that cancer is a really big deal and that we should find a cure soon," she said.

In 2013, the families raised just over $400.00.
