The Ontario-Quebec border reopens this Wednesday after months of closure. The shut down was designed to reduce the number of Covid cases in each province.

Non-essential travel will be allowed, although those crossing are still urged to follow all recommended regulations regarding Covid prevention.

With coronavirus cases coming down in each province, and vaccinations on the rise—64% of Ontarians have received their first dose, 69% for Quebec—restrictions on public mobility have lessened.

Police checkpoints at border entrances are slated for removal.

The border between Canada and the U.S. remains closed, although the current restrictions are set to expire on June 21.

However, this is subject to change, and an extension of the national border closure remains likely.
